The importance of ALT tags with images is overlooked many times, and especially now with sites like Digg, Spinn, and other popular social media sites, it is important to practice using ALT tags on your site, and anywhere you share said content.

"Alt" & "Title" tags for images is mainly used to promote keywords for website and it also displays tooltip which benefit the visitors to gain more info about the behavior of the image. all the browsers does not manage the "Alt" tag in same way like in IE if u use "Alt" tag it will display a tool tip but in mozilla "Alt" tag is used to display an alternate text if there is any error in displaying the image....so "Alt" tag is always important from both point of "visitors" n "crawlers".....

Search engines can only read text. Images with alt tags allow search engines to match the description to the site's content possibly aiding in search engine rankings.

ALT tags provide a text alternative to an image.Alt tag a method to explain an image to those who can not see the image.Search engine crawlers also use ALT tags to analyze what an image is or what it is representing.
